I am happy that Ford is doing well especially being they took NO bailout money. Keep up the good job.

Ford and GM have always been better than Toyota and Honda. They just can't win the perception battle.

I just took a 2300 mile trip and got a little over 28 mpg with my 6 cyl 2006 Fusion with 97000 miles.
Ford used to rule this segment. The original Ford Taurus outsold everything in sight. Ford lost its way when it started de-contenting the vehicle and selling tons to rental car companies which lowered resale and trade-in values. The new Taurus is a little larger than the original while the Fusion a bit smaller.
I am looking at the hybrid version now to replace my 2006.

I just don't understand the mpg in these cars. My old 1995 Saturn got 37 mpg and my car now is a 1996 Dodge Breeze that gets 35 mpg. I would expect these new cars to get much better mileage.

I guess there isn't much expectation for being "car of the year" anymore. You'd think with the technologies (Look at Europe), the mpg would've been able to go over the 40 mark. 27??!!?? That's a joke when $5/gallon hits your neighborhood.

I have heard that their seats are more comfortable....that is what kept me from buying one when I was needing a car, so I bought a Taurus instead. Next time it might be a Fusion.

I finally like the front end of an American car. They FINALLY took on a cue of styling. I don't know about the rear... and I've hated the outlined chrome on Ford's lights lately.
However, I do like their fuel mileage. They must be doing something right. Whether it's running dangerously lean or reducing vehicle weight, or mating an efficient trans to a perfectly suited engine, I don't know.
I hope Ford has paid attention to quality since their cars have notoriously been sub-par with only a rare glimmer of hope shown. If they aren't they'll continue to fall short of the imports.... which I hope for everyone everyone here in the US that they do not.

Great lookin car... also i know Fusion comes with available AWD... but I'm still very skeptical about american cars... I rented a brand new Malibu, my car hit a huge puddle of water because of road flood at about 80km/h and half of the rear bumper came off... dragging on the road...
I heard noises but I didn't know what went wrong until I stopped the car to have a look. I was praising to all my friends about my rental car as the Malibu was definitely above my expectations. Well, I was so wrong! Bumper came off after a puddle of water? That freaked me out when I found out about it!
I won't buy Malibu for this generation unless their reliability is proven until the next time! This fear of me also extends to the rest of the American cars.

I own a Mercury Milan, same vehicle different grill and name. This is one of the better vehicles I have owned. It gets 41 miles to the gallon, a lot bigger that the Prius.

I love the quote at the end, “But I think it certainly it is of great value for dealers, when they have you in their clutches, to be able to pass this information on.” I wonder how much ad and other money Ford funnels into Motor Trend.

Thats an interesting question, about the Ford hybrid & the Toyota hybrid. Some one will say sooner or later. But you have to give Ford credit for this accomplishment here & now....Believe I read one article that said Ford beat Toyota for the fit & finish part also.

Maybe they will make a go of it. question is have they taken care of the reliability. Mato of Fix or repair daily, has got to change..
