Give thanks – gasoline prices continue downward

Central Valley Business Times -- Slowly but steadily, gas prices dropped by another small amount over the past week throughout California, although prices remain about 60 cents per gallon higher than one year ago, according to price surveys Friday.

“At the moment, the biggest factor driving prices downward seems to be the seasonal dip in demand,” says Jeffrey Spring, a spokesman for the Automobile Club of Southern California. “Prices traditionally drop this time of year along with temperatures, which will be a little help for Thanksgiving travelers’ budgets.”

California’s statewide average price for a gallon of self-ser4ve regular on Nov. 20 is $2.943, third highest in the nation, surpassed only by Alaska and Hawaii.

No thanks to give!
They are no where near the $40 they should be at.
Oil companies fleeced us by inflating oil prices quickly and trickly prices back down slowly.

Oiler fan - you are right. Until the price is so high that people actually change their behavior, then we don't really have high prices.

I'm amazed at so many people complaining about high gasoline prices, but then I get out on the road and see so few driving fuel efficient vehicles. I guess the price isn't too high after all. As long as people are willing to waste, the price isn't too high.

Yo Jeffrey, you are in California, where anything under $3 a gallon is cheap. Well, not here pal, it is going up.

Prices are falling slowly around Houston. We should not expect gas prices to move in unison around the country any more than we expect eggs, electricity, or flour to move in the same direction.

Looking around at reduced demand since 11/2007 in the USA ... where'e the surprise? The bigger shocker is how pig-oil and friends can ignor lower demand by ... reducing supplies several times in the last 18 months.
