Give thanks – gasoline prices continue downward

Central Valley Business Times -- Slowly but steadily, gas prices dropped by another small amount over the past week throughout California, although prices remain about 60 cents per gallon higher than one year ago, according to price surveys Friday.

“At the moment, the biggest factor driving prices downward seems to be the seasonal dip in demand,” says Jeffrey Spring, a spokesman for the Automobile Club of Southern California. “Prices traditionally drop this time of year along with temperatures, which will be a little help for Thanksgiving travelers’ budgets.”

California’s statewide average price for a gallon of self-ser4ve regular on Nov. 20 is $2.943, third highest in the nation, surpassed only by Alaska and Hawaii.

Let's see where prices are a month from now before we get all giddy.

Keep conserving.

It takes 2 weeks for prices to drop when the price of crude drops, but it takes 2 minutes for it to jump when crude rises.

I am thankful for a lot of things especially as we approach Thanksgiving. However, gasoline is not high on my thanks list because every drop of a nickle is soon followed by an increase of another nickle.

I'll give thanks, but not for gasoline prices.

I'll give thanks, that I still have Some freedoms (we'll see for how much longer). I'll give thanks for my health (so far no N1H1). I'll give thanks for my family, my faith, and that I still have a job. I'll give thanks that gas prices are not $4/gallon. I'll give thanks they are still under $3.

It would be nice to see it drop here. 97 cents a litre = about $4.00 a gallon. Rip off.

Why in the heck should I give thanks to the Speculators because they gratiously decided to NOT artificially influence the market this week in order to keep gasoline prices higher than what they should be currently?

Before engaging in a round of uncontrolled high-fiving and chest bumping as a result of this development, it is always good to make a check of the day's price movement. Things had been going pretty well around here, in terms of gas prices, a few days ago when we woke up to learn that there had been a twenty cent overnight increase. Our retail gas prices seem to exhibit about the same level of stability as the attention span of an average four year old.

WRONG!

Up $.30 to $2.65 from $2.35 to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving. A week ago today Speedway shocked us with all station at $2.65 then it spread.

The reason for the higher "up" in price than "lower" down in price is the profit margin=greed. Greed is BAD.

Down is good, but overall, I'd rather have a strong economy with higher fuel prices than a weak economy with lower fuel prices.
