If you make alot of money then high gasoline prices do not hurt you as much. Where a person making 8-9 dollars and hour high prices do hurt them more.

Obama is the best person for President but lower prices for fuel would help everyone, including him.

It's a better question to ask why Obozo-lovers still think the guy is a superstar after failure after failure after failure. Good grief, NOTHING the idiot has promised materialized...not "Recovery Summer", not "unemployment kept below 8% if my plan is passed", not "transparency in government", not closing "Gitmo" (thank God there were some Dumbocrats smarter than Obozo who shut down that idiotic idea).
Really, HOW BAD does it have to get before Obozo-lovers get a dose of reality?? Does he have to waste ANOTHER FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS????

Gnusman53 said: "the GOP needs to be sent to electoral woodshed for a few decades so people will be able to clean up all their mess"
And just how does that happen? Does Obozo recklessly spend ANOTHER FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS on failed attempts to fix something that he blames on his predecessor?? And when you look at the root of the problem, it wasn't the GOP's mess to begin with - the Dumbocrats were primarily responsible for the subprime lending crisis that caused our economic meltdown. So far, Obozo's "fixes" have shown quite clearly how inept and clueless he is. He not only is incapable of cleaning up anyone else's mess, he's only capable of making a bigger mess out of everything he touches.

You can rewrite this article, substituting any of a number of things or "the price of gasoline" and it would be equally true.
* There is a curious relationship between a state's per capita income and presidential politics. The higher the income, the higher President Obama's prospects of winning that state.
* There is a curious relationship between a state's education level and presidential politics. The higher the education level, the higher President Obama's prospects of winning that state.
* There is a curious relationship between a state's population and presidential politics. The more populated the state, the higher President Obama's prospects of winning that state.

When will people get it. Obama has NOTHING to do with prices at the pump! if he places regulations on the industry, then MAYBE he has exerted some control. Other than regulating speculators and the industry itself, the President is powerless. FYI - Daddy Bush, therefore W by default, have a HUGE interest in Oil. They have interest in several oil companies. I know this first hand. Therefore, they have an huge financial interest to protect. How greedy do they have to be for the general public to recognize the problems rest with our biased legislation(s), lobbyists and greedy private industries which are holding the general public hostage?

Look at a County map for CA, vote is decided by libs in LA, San Fran. region, Sac., illegals in Imperial County and winos in Santa Barbara, Napa and Sonoma. No need to go to rural CA those votes are impotent.

Alaska has the lowest state tax on Gasoline...
Alaska produces more Oil than any other state...
Alaska is number 2 in average price per gallon.. Only Hawaii, that has to import everything is more.

Yep they have been around for all those years and look at their cost of everything the amount of tax they have on everything and their economy. They are broke and having riots in the streets because of the cut backs to everyone to get bailout money. Pensions cut up to 60% etc. Could you get by if your lost 60% or your pension? What scares me is more people want the nanny state. But that is because the current generation have gotten everything given to them and now want it to keep up.

It's clear that voters are (wisely) considering much more than gasoline prices when they answer pollsters and/or when they vote in Republican primaries. How else to explain that the Speaker ("Newt Gingrich has promised $2.50 gasoline") has been able to muster wins in only two state primaries, both in his political backyard?

Personally, I think all of the residents of the Capitol Building and the White House need a shakeup. Especially if they've been in office for more than a term or two. The position of your state/district's representative was never meant to be a career IMO.

I remember when the GOP had some people with working brains in it. Like Ike. Like William F. Buckley Jr. Like Barry Goldwater.
Now, all three of those dead leaders have more brains than the entire GOP combined now...... And a trillion times more ethics.

the article fails to point out that, in general, the states with the highest prices also have the highest income.
For example, Gas costs 10¢ a gallon more in NJ that it does in MS. However the average person in NJ has income twice that of the average person in MS.
So the 10¢ a gallon does not mean much.

Took a trip to California and was amazed at the amount of tax on a gallon of gas. One of the big reasons gas is so high there. Then there is the cost of refining the special blend that the oil company are required to do for that state. All adds to the cost.

i think that you have it backwards, Obama will probably lose the states with the highest gas prices. the GOP and speculation has driven the gas prices up hoping to get back in.
