For us older Gas Buddies, we remember the Interstate Highways were created by President Dwight David Eisenhower in 1955. At that time their purpose was to allow fast deployment of military vehicles, movement of farm equipment and produce and lastly common everyday traffic. That order of usage still applies today.
Regarding tolls on Interstates, the only section to have that, in the beginning was the Pennsylvania turnpike which was built in 1940 and cost a great deal per mile to build due to hills (made of rock) and tunnels. Rather than build new expensive Interstate highways, it was decided to use the existing toll-based PA Turnpike.
The reality of these misguided States is that they squandered Federal highway funds on other projects and let the roads deteriorate. Now something HAS to be done and the economy won't support the needed repairs.

Im sure they will have a toll in Can Not Cut It for having a gun legally in your car for safety as if no one is ever shot in Chicago, since the news media focuses just on the white rich people in New England.

Why is it that politicians are always looking for new ways to raise more taxes instead of finding new ways of conserving and managing the abundant amounts of money each working person currently pays in taxes.

The Connecticut Turnpike had tolls for decades. They were removed after a horrific crash. A tractor trailer slammed into cars waiting at the tolls.

Well stop the administration from raiding the Transportation Trust Fund. They took monies from the road account for high speed rail and Amtrak.

spend the existing tax collection on infrastructure upkeep. Then there's no need to raise collections from visitors, too.

Hey bullseye100, you are wrong, "WE" didn't put him back in office. I never voted for him the first time.
He and his crooks stole the election by committing fraud.

When you get added tolls for driving on roads that tax money built in lieu of additional taxes to pay for road maintenance, the republicans will say that they did not raise taxes. Any toll is a tax paid by those who drive on toll roads, but the republicans don't see it that way. The republicans never met a tax that they choose not to call something else to avoid being the ones responsible for such taxes. Republicans lie about their own tax and spend agenda. They think that we are all as stupid as their base.

Proposed US Constitutional amendment:
No Congressman nor President nor vice-President shall receive any money or services from the government, except in years where the budget is in balance, including the 'unfunded liabilities'.
---------------------------------
Similar amendment for each State.
