Well there you have it....the speculators are the market. Meaning they have control of the gas price Which also means the value of gas is artificially over priced. Obama administration is letting them have a field day With this; since Obama wants us off oil products.

Quit driving, stay at home no one works until the prices plummet (it would take 3-4 days) If a recession is the result that would be welcome news for all prices. No one has to continue the same old it is up to you to change it so do it.

Our current president & federal gov't agencies HATE oil. They want oil & gasoiline prices to be as high as possible to FORCE Americans into electric cars (and other dumb solar & wind-powered projects.) Our freedom & the free market is being manipulated & destroyed by the president and various gov't agencies. Funny thing...people I know who are among Obama's biggest supporters are now the ones complaining the loudest about high gasoline prices! I enjoy laughing at them and telling them: "You reap what you sow...you did this to yourself when you voted for that IDIOT ... so shut up and quit complaining."

A refinery shut down here in the US. That will make prices raise to where they want them.

Thanks, PD. Yes, we all knew that, but it's good to see a CFTC Commissioner stating this in public. I hope the CFTC has the power to do something about it. If you see any more of this type of thing, please post if for us.

Oil & Gas prices are being driven not by the amount of oil or the number of refinerys. The word is SPECULATION! Two things can be done to stop this.
1. make it illegal to buy Oil or gas products unless the buyer actually takes physical possession.
2. Stop allowing american oil or gasoline to be exported unless inventories are kept within 3% maximum.
These 2 things would knock off .50 to .75 per gal.
Wake Up America!!!!

ExxonMobil had a net profit of 44.8 billion dollars on a gross income of over 500 billion dollars in 2012! With gas prices near $4.00 per gallon in many states , ExxonMobil will make more than 50 billion dollars on a gross income of nearly 600 billion dollars in 2013! When Big Oil was tempered by the ernment , these type of figures were more reasonable and the American public had fuel prices that were reasonable! Today , with no controls on the pricing mechanism , the American consumer is being drained of any and all excess spending dollars! Our economy is in RECESSION and will be going into DEPRESSION soon if Gas doesn't go down below $2.50 per gallon ! ExxonMobil would still make 5 billion dollars per quarter at this price ! Congress needs to put price and profit controls on all petroleum product in America! Congress needs to hear the cry of the people and stop the Big Oil monopoly from controlling our economy!

Should not be traded as a "Commodity" but as a necessity, or we all could tell the boss we need a 15% raise to accomodate for the increased cost of services rendered (transportation to work)

It is collusion among the big gas and oil companies. There hasn't been a major economic or natural disaster recently to cause or warrant these high prices. And if they're still blaming Superstorm Sandy on these prices from a few months ago, they're crazy, and we know the fix is in! We shouldn't take that BS!

Ok. One more time - the Keystone XL pipeline will NOT lower any prices here. All the gasoline produced will be EXPORTED. Why do you think they so desparately want to get it to the coast?!
