I have a GPS, but for those who do not it would be a nice option, as it does save on gas. I would prefer the prize to be optionable, gas card OR this or that prize. I also think that if this sight is about saving money in gas the prize should be in the form of a gas card not cash ( the idea being to save on using gas or money being spent on gas).

Cash would always be the best prize, but a gas card would work.

I am not really interested in the weekly prize and have never looked at how it works... If I played the game, give me a credit card with credit.

Sorry Gas Buddy of Md, but I'm with JudgeHarry44 of Tx. With the economy the way it is a cash card would be the better prize. It would probably go directly into the tank but the flexibility would be nice. However, a gift is a gift. So... make me next week's winner and I'll take whatever prize you choose.

Sorry, but I'm probably missing something in JudgeHarry44's response. Why should a website promoting gas price savings give cash cards so people can buy food? Even if that's what's needed. Wouldn't something "automotive", more specifically, fuel savings related, be more appropriate?
Otherwise you could just as easily say, "Which would you rather receive as a weekly prize: A Halloween costume (regardless of the month of the year), a slab of bacon, or post card pictures of either Paris or Honolulu? That would have just as much relevancy to the website's purpose.
Or am I missing the objective of the prize and participation in the give away?

Gas is a necessary for living (if you have a car). iPods, GPS and other stuff are not. Anyway, if you have a decent phone now, it has all that in there too.

Free gas cards are always welcome, but a choice of other prizes might be good. For example, how about a choice of GPS, gift card to auto accessory shop, card for series of car washes/waxes at reputable shop, etc.

Since the objective is get lower gasoline prices, the free gas card seems most appropriate.

Gas Cards are the most appropriate prize.
However, perhaps a VISA or MasterCard Gift Card would be a good option for some people, such as people who ride a bus or bicycle?

A prize in the form of a gasoline card or cash is most likely to serve my needs best because sooner or later I'll use it to buy fuel.
I already have an MP3 player and I don't need another recording device or GPS because I have several.
If I were to become entitled to a prize, I prefer to choose exactly what I get. It's unlikely you folks can find the optimum mix of prizes for the broad range of contributors you wish to reward. Give us cash or the equivalent (a gift card for fuel purchases); we can use the reward as we see fit.

The Free Gas Cards seems to be the logical choice since the site is about that. I joined some hotel sites so that I could get points towards free stays. The other items that could be added could relate to things you would do when using gasoline such as hotels, tourist attractions, etc. I think the more prizes that were added then the more complicated it gets.I still prefer the simplicity of just having the one choice of a gas card.

a free gas card amount based upon the amount of accumulated points, that way every one is rewarded for their diligent efforts for either driving/walking to spot the cheapest gas prices...it could be set at 100,000 points or....

gas cards are great and i don't argue that as the no. one gift ,,but just as a varity of gifts it would be nice to own a ipod, which i can not afford with my very low salary working only parttime right,it sure would be nice to have some music in my life besides am & pm music that i have, which is just great too,but i could put all my old tunes and favorites on it,just a thought,it could be a nice present too for xmas !

To me, gas cards are in line with what the web site is about; saving money on gas purchases. That said, transportation related prizes aren't out of line; for example, scooters (given as prizes a while back) made sense.
I could understand GPS devices, but would suggest that they be basic to mid-line; there shouldn't be a need to give mid- to top-of-the-line GPS devices. More basic ones would likely allow more prizes.
I can't see any reason to give away i-Pods or even recorders. If you're assuming that the winner will use the recorder to record gas prices and later post them, I think it's a stretch of the imagination.
Prizes should be something that useful to an overwhelming majority of members, and that would be used by an overwhelming majority of members. Seems to me Free Gas cards fits the bill.
