First let's learn why higher education has been needing to raise tuition year after year, along with the medical field - always surpassing the cost of living.

Nobody said we would run out of oil, @wz. The problem is what to do when oil is so expensive that you would never think of wasting it by simply burning it.
Plenty of things like plastics, fertilizer, and pharmaceuticals are made from petroleum products.

If it will bring the cost of a college degree down, why not.

Oil companies have always known they could restart operations at their closed wells when prices rose to exceed the cost of extraction, unless they have plentiful supplies available at lower extraction costs. Just another reason this country will not run out of oil in the foreseeable future.

It's one thing to say that oil revenue funds Texas' state university system, @suzmar, but this is actually drilling for oil on campus. Like I said earlier, I can't wait for the blowout. It'll be great to watch Big Oil try to put a happy face on a huge catastrophe.

Did you notice that the university is only offering a 15% discount on tuition while they take a full 50% of the revenue from the oil?
Boy, that's some overhead!

Amazing. Just goes to show that big oil wants to frack every square foot of this country, no matter where. Can't wait for the first, on-campus, hydrogen sulfide blowout.
If the university is so hard up for money, they should just grow marijuana next to the school cafeteria. They'll earn more.
