"Why do they have to pump anything other than sand & clean water into the ground? I don't understand why the chemicals are used." ========================= To reduce friction and inhibit bacterial growth. By the way water and silica are both chemicals.

10K...just curious what you mean by, "another result of entitlement peeps being allowed to vote: same old EPA, same old results.."
So are you saying 47% of the US population should not be allowed to vote? Do you have a clue as to how many Social Security recipients who are Baby Boomers you are talking about? Probably your parents are included.
I agree with PetroScopper...well said.

The EPA will 'find' what they are told to find.

This will no doubt be a disaster for the American people. The EPA has long ago surpassed its relevancy in society and now only serves as a means to push an agenda and absorb taxpayer dollars.

The new wells aren't the problem. Old unsealed wells into the same geoformation let the pollutants out when fracking applies pressure to that geoformation.

The EPA is always good at finding things for the public to focus on...pushing their agenda, particularly since Obama came to town.

I think that the only people who says get rid of EPA and are serious about that falls into either one of two categories, either they are just uneducated and know absolutely nothing about this country past and how and why we came to find it necessary to have such an agency as the EPA, or they know about our history and simply are just plain stupid.

Oh, for crying out loud. Frack away. How many studies do you guys want? Even if the water did get a little contaminated, you could always buy water at 7-11.

consolidate the agencies overseeing all of this and maybe the savings will be passed on to us... Hope they do this in a safe and responsible manor.

Time to disband the EPA... cut the budget... one of many cuts that can get rid of useless information and ridiculous regulations. Care to start a petition... lol!

As usual, threr will be disagreement. When the future arrives, these same people will say 'see, I told you so'. What good is that. We should be be do all we can to preserve our planet. The Indians who were here before us, like the old time eskimos, took care of the place they lived on. THey made sure not to take more than needed from Mother Earth.

Aquifer water is near the surface. While oil structures are much deeper underground. Thousands of feet versus hundreds.
