EPA to release sample results from fracking study

San Fransisco Gate -- Federal environmental regulators say they'll release preliminary results from water sampling at sites in Pennsylvania and across the nation as part of their study of the potential impact of fracking.

Jeanne Briskin, the Environmental Protection Agency's hydraulic fracturing research coordinator, said Friday that sampling results have been analyzed and will be posted on the EPA website within weeks, according a report http://bit.ly/UvV82n in The Times-Tribune of Scranton.

Fracking is the process that drilling companies use to stimulate oil and gas production from deep shale formations like the Marcellus Shale. The EPA is trying to determine if the fracking process pollutes water supplies. The industry and many states say the process is safe when done properly, but critics dispute that.

Yes, many here want to shoot the messenger; that being the EPA. EPA is actually trying to protect its people; yet some posters don't like what they say, the EPA is then persecuted, by those that disagree with them. Some here, seem to need, to be spoon fed; yet many don't read, they are hardened with views, that are usually irrational. The maturity level of some of the posters is abysmal, accept the scientific advisory boards conclusions under the auspices of the EPA, as truth and not some conspiracy. For those that are still negative, I will leave you to continue, to debate the alien conspiracies, that you also probably subscribe to! Sad!

I hope that the EPA's data is reviewed carefully for misleading data. The EPA is has become so political, I would not trust their data if they said that Oil was brown. Fracking is here to stay. It's one of those "genie out of the bottle" moments and yes I do believe that it has the possibility to contaminate our water supply. They need to make sure it's as safe as possible and not rush this thru, but I don't trust people to think about the future as well as the present.
