Gas Prices Down, Thanksgiving Road Trips Up

Nbc News -- Gas prices in Southern California appear to have stabilized after a swift run-up last month that forced many to cut back on automobile travel and commuting.

The price of a gallon of self-serve regular in San Diego County dropped a fraction of a penny from Sunday night to Monday, to $3.802. That’s still two cents higher than last year, but considerably lower than the record high set last month of $4.52 per gallon.

Prices in San Francisco also dropped slightly, to $3.898 per gallon. Statewide, the average was $3.785 per gallon.

“We haven’t been paying prices this low since early August,” said Marie Montgomery, a spokeswoman for the Automobile Club of Southern California.

The highest Thanksgiving Day prices. Big Oil and the huge price fixing at the fuel pump. Big Oil still producing fuel when the refinery is performing maintenance or an upgrade – in 'off line' mode. Big Oil and Big Gas continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US no matter how much is produced in the US. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3, $3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low! Why did the turkey cross the California road? Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII!

Longview, Washington is about 50 miles north of Portland, Oregon. AM/PM stations are selling regular for about $3.25/gallon. I went to Vancouver, Washington today which is across the Columbia River from Portland and I saw AM/PM regular selling for $3.55/gallon.
