The truth is lawyers see so much green, as in $$$$$, that this stuff will continue for a while.

Sad situation but many benefit from the pipeline. The land owners should be fairly compensated.

vlaz55 - even if they refined the oil in Alberta, they'd still be putting in pipelines to move the refined product to the US.

On one section of our farm the Electric Co. has a right-a-way we placed gates at both ends, our cattle gaze around/under the poles...

Jimmy544: I empathize with your experiences and point of view but in addition Ifail to see how eminent domain can be used by foreign interests.

If it was your ranch or farm field being sacrificed for the profit of a transnational corporation you would not be happy either. They go in and cut down all of the trees if there are any and dig a big trench. I am not sure if the land can then be farmed on after wards or not. But they probably don't want farmers to plow over it when it is completed. So you lose land and probably trees and maybe buildings. The property is certainly worth less afterwards. Then there are the environmental problems if the pipe breaks or leaks. Your land may be then worthless for farming. Any way you look at it is a problem.
Our family lost property to eminent domain back in the 1950s it is not something anyone should have to go through. You have no idea how painful this can be until you have experienced eminent domain. It truly sucks. It is correct to make sure that this process is thoroughly vetted legally.

Here we go again! Build the damn pipeline, upgrade our energy infrastructure, and someone please get Obama the hell out of D. C. I don't care if he goes on an extended vacation for the next (4) years, or what happens to him, just get his dumb ass the hell out of government. Let him take his socialist ideas to some other country, say France!

Let them build the pipeline before Canada gives up and transports that oil to their West coast and ships it to China.

us4usa has a good idea there. If the deal with nebraska falls thhrough at least the pipeline could move the Bakken oil out of the Dakotas southward to be refined. Still worried about moving so much oil by train.

Here is my two cents... Build the pipeline in three sections, The gulf to Oklahoma and Oklahoma to North Dakota then N.D. to Canada...

still up in the air on this topic.
why is canada in such a hurry to export this product? do they not have the refining capability or are they energy self sufficient? what monitoring is going to be put in place and who will be held responsible in the event of a spill/leak/equipment malfunction?
believe me, i would dearly love to see the work brought to those constructing the pipeline, but some questions should be answered. i have searched the internet and found the info lacking. feel free to send me links so i can be better informed.

Big Oil has very deep pockets and can carry on litigation forever. If, at first they do not win, they will simply wear you down to a bloody stump.

This probably costs more in legal and other fees, than it would to just build it.. but anymore, you have to fight everyone to do what you want.. can't just do it!! like in the old days.. everyone picky and got their own thing they want to support. Support oil, or support research, support environment, they all conflict.. confusion is what you get when there are too many allowed to make choices..

Keystone XL pipeline: Judge won't block lawsuit challenging new Nebraska law? The Keystone XL pipeline is to process crude oil into fuel at the gulf coast refineries and export that fuel to countries that will pay more for it. The US will Not see cheaper fuel prices! Big Oil will build the pipeline, no matter what Sneeky or D.C. says. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal greedy benefit. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon - *$3, *$3.50/gallon or *$4.00 is Not the new low! More Refineries are Not the answer, Stop exporting fuel is! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! XII/XXII/MMXII! - The Day After......
